A church located in Central Indiana was expanding to accommodate an increase in membership, and the existing septic system was too small for the new kitchen facility. A Zoeller 20’x 30’ (6 x 9 m) Recirculating Media Filter was designed to handle up to 3,000 GPD (11,356 LPF) with a drip system for final effluent disposal. The versatility of drip was demonstrated by locating the three zones in an adjacent field used for recreational purposes. The system was installed in June of 2003, and 14 subsequent samplings have revealed an average effluent quality of 3 mg/L BOD5 and 2 mg/L TSS.
